NYE on the TV: Celebrations to ring in 2014

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- As one year bleeds into the next Tuesday night, you've got plenty of options to ring in 2014 from the comfort of your own living room. Here, in alphabetical order, are the New Year's Eve specials you'll find around the dial:

ABC: "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest," 10 to 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. to 1:10 a.m. Ryan Seacrest is the grand overseer with fellow N.Y. correspondent Jenny McCarthy and L.A. correspondent Fergie, as well as performances by Jennifer Hudson, The Fray, Robin Thicke, Daughtry, Arianna Grande, Fall Out Boy, Enrique Iglesias and Jason Derulo.

BET: "106 & Party: New Year's Eve 2013," 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Mack Wilds and Lil' Mama host from Times Square with performances by Trey Songz, ASAP Rocky, Migos, Sage The Gemini and more.

CNN: "Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper NYE," 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The pair teams up for a seventh year ringing in the New Year with bizarre - and likely embarrassing - behavior.

Fox: "New Year's Eve Live," 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Mario Lopez hosts from the Las Vegas strip with performances by J. Cole, New Politics, Krewella and Panic! At the Disco, plus coverage of the Times Square ball drop.

Fox News: "All American New Year," 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Bill Hemmer host from Times Square with performances by Rodney Atkins, Susan Boyle and Blues Traveler as well as appearance by several other Fox News personalities.

MTV: "Girl Code Presents: New Year's Code," 10 p.m. Hosted by Carly Aquilino from "Girl Code" and Charlamagne the God from "Guy Code live from Times Square.

NBC: "New Year's Eve with Carson Daly," 10 to 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Daly hosts from Times Square with performances by Mariah Carey, Blake Shelton and more.

Nickelodeon: "Teen Nick Top 10: New Year's Eve Countdown," 11 p.m. to midnight. Nick Cannon hosts a viewer-chosen countdown of the year's top videos. He also performs, as do Echosmith and 4Count.

If you're not into watching the ball drop, some alternative ways to ring in the New Year include a "Modern Family" mini-marathon from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on USA and showings of the movie favorites "Wall-E" (10:15 p.m. to midnight, Disney) and "When Harry Met Sally . . ." (10 p.m. to midnight, Oxygen). Also, TCM has "That's Entertainment" parts I, II and III from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., which feature show-stopping musical numbers, outtakes and never-before-seen clips from 30 years of MGM musicals.

A few networks are ending the year with complete series (or series-to-date) marathons. Here's a look:

AMC: "Breaking Bad," noon Friday to 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, and "The Walking Dead," 9 a.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Jan. 2.

BBC America: "The Tudors," 10 a.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Jan. 2.

BET: "Real Husbands of Hollywood," 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday (This is a reality show parody starring Kevin Hart, Nick Cannon, Nelly, Robin Thicke and more playing fictionalized versions of themselves.)

FX: "Dads," 6 to 11:30 p.m. Monday. (It returns to Fox with new episodes Jan. 7.)

VH1: "Happy Endings," 8 p.m. Tuesday to 12:30 a.m. Jan. 2. (It beings airing regularly 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays on Jan. 8.)

Scripted series premiere: "Every Witch Way," 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nickelodeon (a teen witch moves to Miami and must deal with magical mishaps as well as everyday teen life).

Other series premieres: "Knight Life with Gladys," 10 p.m. Saturday, OWN (the life of Gladys Knight and her family); "Kim of Queens," 10 p.m. Wednesday, Lifetime (a pageant coach helps young women); "Lone Target," 10 p.m. Wednesday, Discovery (an ex-Navy SEAL tries to evade capture by tracking experts); "Tattoos After Dark," 11 p.m. Wednesday, Oxygen (after-hours hijinks at two L.A. tattoo parlors).

Season premieres: "Sister Wives," 9 p.m. Sunday, TLC; "Cake Boss," 9 p.m. Monday, TLC; "Dance Moms," 9 p.m. Wednesday, Lifetime; "My Strange Addiction," 10 p.m. Wednesday, TLC.
