Adult art workshop

Unity of Kanawha Valley, 804 Myrtle Road, will host "A Splash of Paint -- A Workshop for Art-Timid Adults" from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Barbie Dallmann will lead the class, which costs $10 and includes supplies. Contact Dallmann at 304-419-4495.

Spring Hill Autumn Fest

The Spring Hill Autumn Fest runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on Chestnut Street in South Charleston. There will be a flea market, arts and crafts vendors, a DJ, kids' zone, dog-costume contest and more. Horse-and-buggy rides are available for $5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 304-746-5552.

Big Coal River Heritage Festival

The third annual Big Coal River Heritage Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at John Slack Park in Racine. The free event features live gospel and bluegrass music, more than 50 craft and food vendors, children's games and demonstrations (including wool spinning and basket weaving). Book signing

Rebellion in the Hills

On Saturday and Sunday, Chief Logan State Park hosts a free Civil War heritage weekend. Daily activities include battle re-enactments at 2 p.m., hayrides from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., President Lincoln speaking from a train (12:30 p.m. Saturday, 1 p.m. Sunday) and living history demonstrations.

On Saturday, there's also a ladies tea with Mrs. Lincoln at 11 a.m., a dance with music from the era by the Towner Street String Band at 8 p.m. and children's activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday also includes a Civil War church service at 10:30 a.m.

The indie drama "Angel's Perch," about a family's struggle with Alzheimer's disease, screens at 7 p.m. Monday at Marquee Cinemas at Southridge. The film was shot almost entirely in West Virginia.

Zach Deputy concert

Def Leppard concert film

At 8 p.m. Wednesday and Oct. 8, Regal Nitro Stadium 12 will screen the concert film "Def Leppard Viva! Hysteria Concert." The film, recorded over the course of two nights this spring in Las Vegas, features a full performance of the "Hysteria" album, along with many of the band's other hits
