Young band, old music

By Staff reports

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- When FOOTMAD showcases Feufollet at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Culture Center Theater, the new will meet the old. The young group is known for its modern approach to Cajun music. "We have always been about experimenting with Cajun music," explains Chris Stafford, who plays fiddle, accordion and just about anything else he can get his hands on. Deathbed ballads meet glockenspiels and omnichords as traditional Cajun spirit mixes it up with an indie-rock vibe.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, $10 for students and free for those under 13 as well as AmeriCorps and VISTA volunteers. Call 304-415-3668 or visit www.footmad.org.

On Friday, FOOTMAD has a free Cajun dance workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Columbia Gas Auditorium, 1700 MacCorkle Ave. SE.
